Dean of the Graduate School Position DescriptionThe Dean of the Graduate School supervises and coordinates all aspects of graduate education within the University and works with all graduate programs on campus (and UTSI) to implement policies that support the recruitment and academic achievement of graduate students. In order to emphasize the close proximity of graduate education and research, the Dean of the Graduate School will work closely with the Vice Chancellor for Research to foster research on the Knoxville campus. Responsibilities of this position include:
Required qualifications: Appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in a UT department or school granting the Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree; experience with graduate studies through service on graduate committees and as director of theses and dissertations; familiarity with the research missions of the Knoxville campus; administrative experience. Desired: Service on Graduate Council or as departmental Director of Graduate Studies.
