It has come to my attention that there are potential problems in the area of health care for programs that bring to campus students who are not regularly enrolled or not yet enrolled. If there is an expectation that students in these programs will need to use health care facilities on the Knoxville campus, arrangements should be made in advance.

Since summer health fees are in effect until the Monday before fall classes begin, students who need health care before that time have the option of paying the summer health fee ($54.00) or paying fee-for-services. An additional option is for the sponsoring department to contract with the Student Health Service to provide service to the students enrolled in these early programs. This arrangement would be similar to arrangements made for the provision of health care for summer camps. Currently, the charges are $1.00 per day for each participant for the length of the program. Departments wishing to provide health care for such programs should contact Jim Boyle, Student Health Service Administrator, at 974-3135.
