Upgrades and Improvements to Elements

Elements, the University of Tennessee’s Faculty Activity Reporting system (FAR), will be receiving a new look this year! A new version of the system will be provided to us by Elements’ parent company, Symplectic, in the coming months. Faculty who regularly use Elements should not be wary of the changes, as the new upgrade does not affect how users interact with the system.

“This new Elements upgrade only provides a greater user experience for our faculty who regularly use the system,” Diane Kelly, vice provost for faculty affairs, said. “Users can think of these aesthetic changes to the system like a typical iPhone or Android update. While colors and fonts appear a bit different upon logging in, the overall functionality will remain the same and the user experience will be that much better for it.”

Though the functionality of the new upgraded system will not change, the Faculty Affairs team recognizes that users may desire more information and ask questions regarding the changes. Therefore, the team will be hosting a “Elements: What’s New?” session on April 9 from 2 – 3 p.m. to answer questions and provide a walkthrough. Updates will also be made to elementshelp.utk.edu in the coming weeks prior to the new Elements upgrade launch to assist.
