Increase in Minimum Graduate Student Stipends

The minimum graduate student stipends for Fiscal Year 2026 have been updated.

  • $26,496 is the FY26 minimum stipend for all nine-month, 50 percent graduate assistants, graduate teaching assistants, graduate teaching associates, graduate research assistants, and graduate research associates.
  • $35,328 is the FY26 minimum stipend for all 12-month, 50 percent graduate assistants, graduate teaching assistants, graduate teaching associates, graduate research assistants, and graduate research associates.

Minimum stipends are prorated for positions that are less than 50 percent time

With these updates, we have achieved the goal set in August 2023 of aligning minimum stipends with the living expenses in UT’s estimated graduate student budget. Moving forward, we will continue the practice of regular review of minimum stipends and maintaining levels that correspond to the living expenses.

Graduate assistants and associates are valued and vital members of our campus community. We appreciate the partnership of academic and administrative areas to support them.
