Invitation to Feb. 10 Town Hall on Academic Structures

Colleagues,

Through the summer and early fall of 2021, a working group of 20 faculty members were charged with examining whether our current academic structure best positions us for advancing our strategic goals in a rapidly changing educational landscape. You can find the working group’s report and more information on the webpage for the academic structures working group.

As a next step in this process, the Office of the Provost will host a Town Hall on Thursday, February 10 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Student Union Auditorium, Room 180. The goal of the Town Hall is to give members of the campus community an opportunity to learn more about the rationale behind the working group’s report. The Town Hall will be followed by multiple opportunities for small groups to engage with external facilitators around the ideas in the report.

Bill Fox, Chancellor’s Professor and director of the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research, will discuss the potential impact of state and national trends on UT. Doug Blaze, chair of the working group, will then moderate a panel discussion of the report.

We look forward to the discussion at the Town Hall and hope you will join us on February 10.
