Faculty Affairs partners with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Accessibility to facilitate faculty search. Faculty search at UTK is administered through Interfolio Search. Resources for using Interfolio Search can be found at the bottom of this page.
An overview of the faculty search process and workflow can be found in this slide deck. While the process applies to tenure-track faculty searches, we strongly encourage units to engage in this process for hiring non-tenure-track faculty when possible so that the best talent can be hired at UTK.
Required Orientation
Search committee chairs are required to complete the online, self-paced EOA/FA Faculty Search Chair Orientation in Canvas before creating a position in Interfolio. We also strongly encourage search chairs, committee members, faculty, and administration to participate in a STRIDE workshop.
Search Milestones and Forms
The process for conducting faculty searches has three approval milestones that assist units with engaging in best practices:
If a committee wishes to amend the principal or alternate pool after the Request to Schedule Campus Interviews form as been approved, they should submit a Principal and Alternate Pool Amendment Form.

Interfolio Resources
UTK faculty positions should be created in Interfolio by the department or college respectively, using the position type “UTK Tenure Track Faculty.” Non-Tenure Track searches should be created using the position type “All Other Faculty.”
Faculty searches use approval workflow in Interfolio at the steps of Creating a Position and Closing a Position. Please note that the Request to Post Position form (Milestone 1) needs to be added to the position at the time it is created in Interfolio so it should be completed before creating the position.
