All faculty and graduate teaching associates are invited to attend virtual workshops in April, hosted by PEN America and focused on academic freedom and free speech.
- Monday, April 11: “Understanding and preserving faculty academic freedom in a polarized environment,” presented by Jon Friedman, director of free expression and education at PEN America.
- Wednesday, April 13: “Managing tense moments and their aftermath,” presented by Neijma Celestine-Donnor, assistant dean for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the School of Social Work at the University of Maryland-Baltimore.
- Thursday, April 21: “Overcoming barriers to robust conversation in polarized times,” presented by Lara Schwartz, professional lecturer in the Department of Government and director of the Project on Civil Discourse at American University.
- Friday. April 22: “Creating and maintaining a respectful learning environment,” presented by Neijma Celestine-Donnor.
